These scholarships provide dedicated and deserving students with additional funding to
assist in successfully transitioning from high school to technical institutes, community
colleges, vocational schools, colleges, and universities.
Scholarships in the following amounts will be awarded:
High School: $1,500 first place, $1100 second place, 800 third place
College/University: $1,500 first place, $1100 second place, 800 third place
High School/College/University Student Eligibility:
SME Member in good standing (member number)
High School or College/University Student
500-word essay
State of Florida resident or residing in Florida while attending a Florida school
Minimum GPA of 2.5 (unweighted) on a 4.0 scale
Academic reference
Applicants must also plan to pursue a career in manufacturing or related engineering field of
studies such as Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
The application must include a 500 maximum word essay answering the question “Where do
you expect to be in 10 years, and what steps will you take to achieve this
expectation?” Winners will be notified by November 22nd.
